A Final Round Up of the Year from Mr Schumm
What a final week! We are well and truly carolled out! Last night Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 delighted us with a superb Carols by Candlelight. They sang beautifully and the readings were magnificent. The whole evening was filled with the spirit of St Stephen’s and the wonder of the birth of Jesus. There were so many moments of pure delight that brought a tear to the eye. Thank you Mr Perry for organising such a successful evening.

Thank you Miss Rachel for all you have done for our school. We had a special assembly for Miss Rachel on Tuesday where the children shared their memories of her and we prayed for her retirement in Cornwall. We will miss her so much but all our best wishes travel with her, and we love the fact that she has said she will help out when she can – you never really leave St Stephen’s. We are searching high and low for a music teacher so if you do know someone, please put them in touch with me. Next term, we have a recorder teacher who will continue with recorder lessons for Years 3 and 4. The rest of the school will be enjoying Drama/Musical theatre sessions. Ruth, mother of Jessie and Sophia, has kindly agreed to lead Hymn Practices and Choir sessions. I will keep you posted on our musical development.
This morning, we enjoyed our Christmas Service with some flying sweets – you had to be there! I Give Thanks raised the roof and we had the most wonderful service as we all came together for one last time before the New Year. Thank you Denis and Mr Perry for making our final day start with a bang!
And in case you missed it, here is A Year in the Life of St Stephen’s CE Primary School – happy watching!
Auction Night!
On the 6th March 2025, FOSS will hold another spectacular auction night. Save the date in your diaries now as this is always a sell-out event! This is such a fun night and always raises a huge amount for our school.
If you have something you can donate as an auction lot, please could you let Linda know. lindajanepowell@hotmail.co.uk
In the past, we have had concert and theatre tickets, a stay in a holiday home, event tickets, spa day or beauty treatments, hampers, cases of wine, original art work, restaurant offerings, experience days and so much more! Thank you once again for all your support!
On behalf of the staff and myself, I want to thank you for your kind words, cards and presents. They are very much appreciated – thank you, thank you!
Christmas quizzes have been completed (thank you Mr Faith), Christmas parties have been celebrated and the great St Stephen’s Christmas Express is finally pulling into the station – I know, I know, such a beautiful metaphor.
I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a splendid New Year.
