A Friday Round Up from Mr Schumm
Good afternoon,
A rather short first week but oh so good to have the children back and looking so smart in their uniforms!
Two whole school assemblies this week, which was amazing and did I miss Zoom? I’ll let you ponder on that one. I did find the assemblies rather emotional as I looked out at a sea of smiling faces literally shouting ‘His spirit is with us!’ For Year 1 this was their first experience of school assemblies and Year 2 had only experienced a term but onwards and upwards and we are all together now.
Reception have settled in brilliantly and have had a super two days. It was lovely to meet all our new parents on Thursday morning and some more familiar faces. A very calm first two days though the realisation that they have to go to school on Monday may be a slight shock for some – anyway enough of me!
During the summer holidays we rejuvenated the ‘blue wall’ with our school values and a spot of graffiti! Here is a video https://youtu.be/KgN1RdX07Zk of the transformation. It looks fantastic!
On Friday morning, after drop off, the school prayer group meets to pray for the whole school community so please come along and join them. A good pray always finishes the week well and with the prayer group on site it gives me a chance to get in a few requests for the coming week!
A former pupil of St Stephen’s, who worked with us in the summer term doing ‘catch up’ maths lessons, is now looking for tutoring work before he heads of to Durham University to study Aerospace Engineering – as you do.
