What a fantastic two weeks packed with all things scientific, healthy and sporty!
We welcomed the Life Bus on Monday into the school playground and each class climbed aboard for a lesson on keeping our bodies healthy. Beth McGregor, our scientist in residence, visited for the week and the children from Year 5 and 6 learnt about space and conducted their own investigations and, in turn produced their own St. Stephen’s research station.
Our Indoor Athletics team won the tournament against 18 other local primary schools. They will now go forward to represent the borough at the London Youth Games. Fantastic!
Miss Marchent’s Year 4 class were treading the boards this week and delighting us with an assembly on sound. The assembly was packed with facts on sound and a perfect rendition of a Queen hit complete with changed lyrics. The children were their usual joyous, confident selves with loud voices and superb acting.
I enjoyed working with Year 6 this week on our new class novel Animal Farm. The children were astounding with their thoughtful comments on the first chapter and we were all soon enjoying this allegorical story. One of the children exclaimed that her ‘brother was doing this for GCSE!’ You know me, I like to aim high! I am looking forward to the coming weeks as we investigate the novel in further detail and discover all the themes and references.
