A Final Round Up from Mr Schumm

Good afternoon,

The last day of term has arrived and as you can imagine we are awash with tears and goodbyes from Year 6! What a year – literally a rollercoaster I was thinking, as I was walking to school this morning, so many events that have taken place, that we have squeezed in – let alone an 18k walk on the very weekend!

Talking of 18k walks what a superb weekend if a touch damp around the edges. There is nothing as inspiring as a line of St Stephen’s parents and children appearing out of the mist along the Jurassic coastal path. Well done to everyone who took part and all those that sponsored us, you are all truly amazing. Can you guess what’s coming next? Yes, there is still time to sponsor us https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/jurassiccoastwalk and it would be so appreciated if you haven’t already done so. Go on, you know you want to! And a few £100 pounds more will take us to 20k including the GiftAid

I am delighted to announce that Thomas Blair will be joining us in September. Mr Blair will be our new PE Teacher and PE Lead. Mr Blair has been teaching for a number of years and comes with a wealth experience in both the state and independent sector.

It was the Year 6 BBQ last night and they each spoke so confidently about each other – about their strengths, their achievements and why they are so special. Lots of them spoke about their friends having a ‘place in their hearts’, which was incredibly touching and made me think about our amazing school and how we hold our whole community in our hearts with God at the centre.

This morning we had our Leavers Service, in the playground, with the sun blazing down on us. We sang, listened to memories, prayed and generally thanked God for our wonderful Year 6 children. Thank you to all the parents that leave today who have supported us over the years. We look forward to welcoming you all back as ‘Foss-ils’ at future social events.

Thank you so much on behalf of all the staff for your kind words, cards and gifts – they are really very much appreciated and thank you for funding our end of term party in recognition of our Primary School of the Year Award – did I mention that! We are all looking forward to our party this evening.

Thank you Justine and Hannah for heading up FOSS and working so hard for our school community. I love working with the two of you and look forward to another fabulous year. Indeed thank you all those parents who have helped out at FOSS events – you are all incredible.

So, finally thank you for being you and working with us to make your children the best they can be. As I reminded Year 6 this morning – In the words of a little known tune…

Just because I find myself in this story,

It doesn’t mean that everything is written for me.

If I think the ending is fixed already,

I might as well be saying I think that it’s OK!

And that’s not right!

And if it’s not right!

I’ve got to put it right!

I then went on to share my useful hint, with all the children, which I use when I find myself in one of life’s tricky situations – ask them to show you if you weren’t at the Leavers Service.

Have a wonderful summer and see you in September. Let’s do it all again only bigger and better!
