Mr Schumm’s Blog!

Dear Parents/ Carers,

I hope you are all well and just in case you need a quick reminder of what the end of term usually looks like https://youtu.be/MTbxLwo6D6Q

How are you all? It’s so hard to believe but here we are at the end of week two and what would have been the end of term. Thank you again for all your emails with details of the work you have been doing at home and some of the inspired activities you have all been up to. As I said in my previous email, please do as much as you can and do not worry if you are not completing all the tasks. Sometimes it’s just being with your family, talking, making things and doing things together, which gives you the most rewarding memories so, if the school work is getting too much – make a cake – I did! Trying to get a 16 and 18 year old to continue completing work related to their GCSE’s and ‘A’ Levels is enough to drive anybody to a Victoria sponge!

I thought a few words from a well-known musical would inspire us today.

‘Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
‘Till you find your dream.

A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life
For as long as you live.’

Can you name that musical? It’s worth a watch for the older children (fills an afternoon) and the children could send me some pictures, a review of the movie please or, as it’s based on a real story, some ‘did you know facts’.

So, that is what we will do at this difficult time – we will keep climbing that mountain and keep following that rainbow and hopefully we will all be back at school and living our Shepherd’s Bush lives again very soon. But for now, we put our best foot forward, look sharp and trust in God to lead us through this – and, when in doubt, a tube of Pringles comes in handy too…

The teachers have set work up until what would have been the Easter holidays (there will be list of activities you can access during the break – if you want) and then it will start again after the holiday. I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff who are either helping me to open the school for key workers or setting work each day and answering emails. They are incredibly positive and love receiving emails from parents with children’s work included.

Follow the enclosed link https://www.ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk/celebrating-re-at-home/ and you will find lots of Easter activities that Mr Perry has placed on the school website.

We are beginning to experiment with different technologies to help us keep in touch with the children, sharing stories and children’s work so watch this space after the holidays.

On Monday, Alastair will be doing his very own Joe Wicks style work out on a middle aged guinea pig so look out for his live stream on YouTube and a grey haired man in trainers trying to keep up! We will be sending out an email on Monday morning at 9:45 with our live stream link so please be ready for a 10:00am start!

Have a wonderful but slightly quieter Easter break and eat lots of chocolate because no one will see you!
