A Friday Night Round Up and a Welcome Back from Mr Schumm
Good afternoon,
I hope you had an amazing summer and managed to get a break. It’s great to have the children back looking so smart, full of energy and raring to go! The Nursery and Reception children have started and fit in perfectly! Though when they realise they have to come back on Monday it may be a different story!
In collective worship this week we talked about new beginnings and how the start of the school year is a perfect time to think about things we would like to improve on and changes we can make, as it is a new bright year stretching before us and anything is possible- please remind me of this when it is the end of the school year and sports day, the school production, leavers events are upon us, in that rather exciting but hectic last few weeks! But I am getting ahead of myself. Mr Perry introduced our Bible verse from Galatians 3:26 ‘So in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith’. Mr Blair, our new PE teacher, chatted with the children about his plans for PE and his favourite team Manchester United! I listened attentively and thought about dance routines for Miss Whiting and I for St Stephen’s Got Talent!
On the uniform note, a quick reminder that it is black school shoes that must be worn unless it is a PE day. If in doubt check out the following link for all the relevant information – https://www.ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk/parent-information/uniform/
I have attached some important Dates for the Diary for the school year, but please remember more dates will be added as the term goes on and more information, regarding events, will come via ParentMail/ FOSS. Please note we are still waiting confirmation of the Rec/ Year 1 and Y2-Y6 Sports Day.
I have also attached the Parent Handbook, which is filled with lots of useful information.
Eritrean and Ethiopian New Year
Next Wednesday, 11th September, many people of Ethiopian and Eritrean heritage celebrate Enkutatash or Ethiopian/Eritrean New Year. Our school will mark this with a delicious lunch for the children on Friday, 20th September.
If you would like to join us for a special Enkutatash lunch ( please book via Parentmail ) or would like to help us with the menu/decorations etc. please WhatsApp Sanne on 07741030038 or email j.john-brown@ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk.
Family Supper
One of my favourite events of the year is the Family Supper where parents bring a favourite dish and we all share in a feast of magnificent cuisine from the countries and cultures, which make up our school community. It’s a great opportunity to meet new parents and for the children to run around the playground in the dark! Think Lord of the Flies with delicious food and a glass of wine!
This year’s Family Supper is on Thursday, 26th September at 6pm in the main hall and playground. FOSS will be running a bar and when you see the array of delicious dishes, your mouth will be watering! In line with the school’s new Eco Code, please minimise plastic wrapped food.
Please do remember that we are a Nut and Seed-free school, and need any dishes labelled very carefully if there is any chance that they may contain nuts or seeds (which we would rather there wasn’t) as we have a number of children with allergies.
Year 6 children walking home alone or a change to who is collecting.
Year 6 parents need to please email Miss Collins j.collins@ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk to outline which days their child will walk home alone – fixed for the Term or Year. This will be kept on a central register in the office.
For the whole school – if there is a change to who is collecting your child/ren on the day parents will need to email the class teacher and Miss Collins – j.collins@ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk – who will contact the class teacher or teaching assistant unless the teacher has confirmed acknowledgement of the parents email.
