A Friday Night Round Up from Mr Schumm

Good afternoon,

What an eventful week! One minute, you are belting out ‘I give thanks’ at the Harvest Festival Service and the next minute, you are sprinting around Shepherd’s Bush as if in an episode of ‘The Sweeney’. More like ‘Dad’s Army’ I hear you say!

Anyway onwards and upwards. Our burglar is now behind bars and the insurance claim is going in!

A fantastic Harvest Festival service got us in the mood for the year ahead! Amazing singing and the church was packed. Thank you for all your kind donations – the Upper Room is very grateful.

Family Supper

Absolutely delicious Family Supper with tons of heavenly food. The quote of the evening was ‘organised chaos’. We do that so well. There’s nothing like running around the playground in the dark with a fantastically full stomach. Thank you to all those who attended – it was great to see everyone.

Quiz Night

Have you got your ticket for the school quiz, on Thursday 10th October, yet? It’s going to be the most fabulous evening filled with fun, frivolity and a full on stretching of those old, grey cells. We have lots of staff gearing up for the evening so get a team together and buy a table or just purchase a ticket or two and join a gang. Just make sure you come and join in the fun!

Year 3 at the Gurdwara

We enjoyed a trip to the Ealing Gurdwara as part of our Sikhism topic. We saw the flag pole – Nishan Sahib – before entered the building. Inside, we had to remove our shoes, clean our hands and wear head scarves as a sign of respect. Siri Chand told us about her faith and answered many questions before we got a closer look at the holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib – also known as the 11th Guru. Then, we were invited to stay and have a delicious vegetarian meal in the Langar Hall. It was a wonderful learning experience. Thanks to our parent volunteers.

It’s a Goal!

Both the boys’ and the girls’ football team were on winning form today. Both teams played brilliantly with the boys beating Old Oak with a superb cross from Captain Sam tapped in by Tim – 1-0! The girls were up against Ark White City not quite the score of last week just a mere 7-0 to us with Matilda scoring 4 of them and sister Ella 1 ( and she’s the goal keeper!).

Mr Blair has already updated everyone with his own newsletter packed with sporting highlights from the last few weeks so I can tick that one off!

Thank you to all those parents who attended our mobile phone talk last night. It was very informative. I have a PowerPoint and some further information to share with everyone and will do so next week! But for now, just say ‘no’ to that smart phone and together we can really make a difference to our children’s mental health!

I am currently getting ready for the Great St Stephen’s Sleepover (an auction prize for 40 children) which takes place this evening. Miss Kayleigh, Miss Natalie, Jessie and I are raring to go – though we may not be so full of joy tomorrow morning.

Have a lovely weekend.
