Some end of term hot news from the Gymnastics team
The students of Year 6 have been appointed as teachers! It is not only the practical aspects of gymnastics that they are learning, but also the theoretical aspects. Each group has begun planning the lesson they will lead and deliver to the rest of the class. Developing leadership and safety awareness while maintaining a child-centred approach to what they deliver.
In January, we have also decided to shake things up a bit and will be eliminating the Mat system we have been using previously and will go to a large circuit within the class to eliminate any misconceptions about moving up and down in groups. In order to ensure each pupil feels challenged but not too challenged, each station will contain harder and easier variations. By doing so, it will be possible to tailor it to each child’s needs.
Last week was the last week of term, and we moved to fun sessions, where we brought out the big cage and ropes to participate in some Christmas activities.
Merry Christmas from all of the Gymnastics Team (Paul, Fiona, Shannon, Kieron and Aisha)
