St Stephens at the Chelsea Flower Show as judges!

Yesterday (Monday 20th May), Year 3 students from the school gardening club, Mrs Jeffrey & Mrs Wordsworth were lucky enough to be invited to the press day of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show to be judges in the first ever Children’s Choice Award to select the best show garden. Those in the running included the Stroke Association garden, WaterAid and the National Gardens scheme. We were also lucky enough to be allowed into the No Adults Allowed Garden which included a slide! Our students got the chance to quiz each of the designers from the gardens.

The winner, announced on television last night, was the National Trust garden which we all absolutely loved. M couldn’t tear himself away from the water feature!

The RHS laid on a fabulous picnic with a hamper of fruit plus cupcakes with edible flowers and butterflies! Children went home with their own goody bag plus one for the school with gardening and wildlife books. Do check out coverage of the Flower Show on BBC One this week. Thank you to the RHS and our RHS Buddy Kyle for looking after us so well.
